Chiang Mai Province of northern Thailand is noted for its handicraft skills. Among the more popular are handicrafts made from Sa paper known for its fine texture and durability. Villagers living along the Chiang Mai-San Kamphaeng road are engaged mainly in the production of Sa paper products and enjoy a clientele from Thailand and overseas.

Dong Pa Sang village is another production center for Sa papermaking. Among those importing Sa paper from Thailand products include gift-wrap paper, stationery, notebooks, cardboard boxes and photo frames. Various floral patterns are added to Sa paper products to make them more attractive.
